Pianist Guy Dubuc and drummer Marc Lessard are two long-time collaborators who have been working together for over five years under the stage name of Bob & Bill. Musicians, composers and musical arrangers, these two artists took part in an array of projects for stage, television and cinema in addition to producing several albums.

Bob & Bill present this spring the album Crime Report, first opus of this duo, released under the Orange Music label. On this album Bob & Bill put to use the sum of their experience by combining electro acoustic experimentation, instrumental sonority and electronic music to deliver a rich and organic end product. All sound samples that are found on Crime Report were created from authentic instruments or heterogeneous objects, found here and there in everyday living. Amongst invited artists, there are comedian Jacques Lavallée narrator and countertenor Daniel Taylor.

This album, with an intimate feel of cinematic surroundings, will plunge the listener into the most uncommon sound universe. Crime Report’s music is presented as the soundtrack of a movie still inexistent inspired by texts from Jean-François Boily and Janicke Morissette. The music inspires a gloomy, strange and schemer scenario; a certain sound illustration of strength and human capacities to externalize inner ache. The listener will be impelled into this story and will imagine the elements expressed by the powerful music concocted by Bob & Bill.

Sometimes soaring and introspective, other times swinging and festive, Crime Report’s music is tinged with emotion and reveals its depth each time we listen to it. The album makes an important marker in the evolution of Bob & Bill as a duo and will clearly find a spot on Quebec’s electronic scene.

 

Bob & Bill nous présentent ce printemps l’album Crime Report, premier opus du tandem qui est lancé sous étiquette Orange Music. Sur cet album, Bob & Bill ont mit à profit la somme de leur expérience en alliant l’expérimentation électroacoustique, les sonorités instrumentales et la musique électronique, pour former un tout riche et organique. Tous les échantillons sonores qu’on retrouve sur Crime Report ont été créés à partir d’instruments réels ou d’objets hétéroclites trouvés ici et là, dans la vie de tous les jours. Parmi les artistes invités, on retrouve le comédien Jacques Lavallée à la narration et le contreténor Daniel Taylor.

Ce disque à caractère intimiste et d’ambiance cinématographique, plongera l’auditeur dans un univers sonore des plus inusités. La musique de l’album Crime Report est présentée comme la  trame sonore d’un film encore inexistant, inspiré des textes de Jean-François Boily et Janicke Morissette. La musique inspire un scénario sombre, étrange et intrigant; une certaine illustration sonore des forces et des capacités humaines à extérioriser le mal intérieur.
