After a successful tour across the Korean peninsula, Sergeï Trofanov releases « GYPSY PASSION 3 », his 7th solo album. And to our great pleasure, the Moldavian violinist draws again from his gypsy roots to offer a remarkable opus on which virtuosity interweaves seamlessly with raw emotion.

On « GYPSY PASSION 3 », Trofanov magnificently performs 12 works from such world-famous composers as Johannes Brahms (“Hungarian Dance No.1 & 4”), Piotr Tchaïkovsky (“Swan Lake”), Dimitri Shostakovich (“The Second Waltz”), Jacques Larue and Django Reinhardt (“Nuages”).  The album also includes “Ukrainian Fantasy”, “I Will Never Forget You”, “Dark Night”, “Romanian Dance” and “ Russian Medley No.2”, as well as two Trofanov originals entitled “Moldova 2” and “Gypsy Bolero”.

With tremendous musical sensibility, Sergeï Trofanov allows us to gleefully rediscover the warm, passionate and colourful universe of gypsy music, where languorous melancholy often bursts into unrestrained joy (or vice versa). Undoubtedly, « GYPSY PASSION 3 » is a must for all lovers of gypsy and Slavic music. To accompany him on GYPSY PASSION 3, Sergeï Trofanov calls upon outstanding musicians, such as pianist Olivier Radu, his longer collaborator, Vladimir Sidorov (bayan) and Marcel Roscovan (second violin).

Lead violonist of Djelem Project, which he co-founded, Sergeï Trofanov has six solo albums to his name: “Gypsy Passion”, “Gypsy Passion II – Romance “,  “Tout à la manière tzigane”, “Around The World with the Mondo Rhapsody Orchestra “, “Cinema Passion” and  “Québec Passion”; this last album was nominated at the 29th ADISQ Gala in the category  “Album of the year – instrumental”.

Born in Moldavia of Russian descent, Sergeï Trofanov is known worldwide as a virtuoso violonist. His albums are distributed in many countries with much success, notably in Asia.

Produced by Claude Simard at MixArt Studios in collaboration with sound engineers Élie Jalbert and Rod Shearer. “GYPSY PASSION 3”, an Orange Music release, will arrive in stores on October 28th.

Après une brillante tournée pan-coréenne, Sergeï Trofanov lance « Gypsy Passion 3», son 7ème album solo. Et pour notre plus grand plaisir, le violoniste-virtuose d’origine moldave puise à nouveau dans ses racines tziganes pour nous offrir un opus où la virtuosité entrelace l’émotion pure.

Sur Gypsy Passion 3, Trofanov interprète avec brio 12 oeuvres dont les pièces de compositeurs renommés tels Johannes Brahms (« Danse Hongroise no. 1 et 4 »), Piotr Tchaïkovsky (« Le Lac des Cygnes »),  Dimitri Shostakovich (« The Second Waltz »), Jacques Larue et Django Reinhardt (« Nuages »). Nous y retrouvons également « Fantasie Ukraïnienne », « I Will Never Forget You », « Sombre Nuit », « Danse Roumaine », « Pot-pourri russe no. 2 », ainsi que « Moldova 2 » et « Gypsy Bolero », deux compositions originales du virtuose.

Grâce à sa sensibilité musicale sans pareil, Sergeï Trofanov nous permet de redécouvrir cette chaleureuse, passionnée et colorée musique tzigane, où la mélancolie langoureuse éclate toujours en joie débridée, si ce n’est le contraire. Il n’y a point à en douter, Gypsy Passion 3 est un album incontournable pour tous les passionnés de musique tzigane et slave. Pour l’accompagner sur Gypsy Passion 3, Sergeï Trofanov fait appel à de remarquables musiciens dont le pianiste Olivier Radu, son complice de toujours, Vladimir Sidorov (bayan) et Marcel Roscovan (deuxième violon).

Violoniste attitré du groupe Djelem Project, dont il est l’un des membres fondateurs, Sergeï Trofanov a déjà six albums solo à son actif, soit « Gypsy Passion », « Gypsy Passion II – Romance », « Tout à la manière tzigane », « Around The World avec le Mondo Rhapsody Orchestra », Cinéma Passion » et « Québec Passion »; celui-ci lui a d’ailleurs valu une mise en nomination au 29e Gala de l’ADISQ dans la catégorie « Album de l’année – instrumental ».

D’origine russe, né en Moldavie, Sergeï Trofanov est un violoniste de renommée mondiale. Ses albums sont distribués dans plusieurs pays et y connaissent beaucoup de succès, notamment en Asie.

Réalisé par Claude Simard au Studios Mixart en collaboration avec les ingénieurs de son Élie Jalbert et Rod Shearer, l’album GYPSY PASSION 3 sera disponible sous étiquette Orange Music chez tous les bons disquaires et sur internet dès le 28 octobre prochain.
